Giveaways are great for both freebie hunters and advertisers. Here’s why.
Freebie Hunters
It’s not fair to say that all the stuff at giveaway events is crap. That’s not true. I think that a lot of it is, maybe 70%, but you can also get a lot of good stuff.
In my opinion, the stuff includes:
- useful web graphics
- unique reports not seen anywhere else
- useful software tools
Avoid most of the generic stuff that you’ve seen before e.g. the guide to squidoo, the guide to article marketing etc.
Advertisers
The best bit about giveaways is putting your own product on there and forcing the surfer to give up his email addres via your squeeze page, to get access to it.
You can get a lot of easy signups this way. Some people say that the quality of signups is poor but that’s not necessarilly a bad thing:
- you have a list full of people proven to sign up and wanting more
- even poor quality leads are good because they give you access to more ad swaps and JVs the bigger your list is, regardless of quality
The best thing is that the giveaway product need not even be your own! Someone gave away my article spinner and I was happy for the publicity because my URL for this site was buried inside it!
