Recently, I’ve heard a lot about membership sites.
The idea of getting some regular income each month is very attractive obviously!
But I’m not talking about setting my own up although I would love to some day.
Nope, I’m talking about joining an internet marketing membership site.
My interest was first piqued when I joined Travis’ Bum Marketing list around a year ago. He kept plugging the Wealthy Affiliate site.
I had thought about joining but I, like many, have “wasted” a lot of $ in times gone by on ebooks especially and was determined to leave those times behind. Less reading and more action as some might say.
Though I know of many excellent books and I’ll share these finds with you guys at some other time.
I was also a member of PLRPro for about a year. I had started to use this content to build Wordpress blogs. My only problem was that I couldn’t keep up with the amounts of material that they were writing! I felt obliged to use it all, and I did not have the time or resources to rewrite everything so I cancelled my membership. But Marc and Daniel provide an excellent service and I know that many “gurus” are members there as well so I can highly recommend it.
I’ve been looking for something much different – a site offering great mentoring and a good community. So I decided to do my research on Warriors to see if I could find something to fit my needs.
Pretty much everyone said that John Delavera’s Turbo Membership site is the best. It offers the best tool and resources which in themselves are great value.
This is something that I did not know about before and maybe some of you guys reading do not know either – membership site owners buy up WSOs and other tools of the trade and offer them for free to their subscribers. This is really a win – win situation for everybody.
These tools may cost them slightly more if they want to give them to their lists or membership sites but the cost per subscriber is minimal so everybody benefits. In some ways, I’m surprised that these rights sell for so little – if everyone got together and price fixed like a cartel, they could sell them for way more money!
John’s site looked excellent but was way out of my reach in terms of monthly cost. This obviously is a site for full time marketers and I do not belong to that group…yet!
So in the end it was a toss up between Wealthy Affiliate, earn1kaday and Standing Starts Profits.
Wealthy Affiliate was strong in my mind because I really trust Travis – enough said. But I have heard that it concentrates mainly on affiliate sales via PPC. My current focus is on product creation and I would rather not try PPC until I have plenty “in the bank”. So, maybe one for the future.
earn1kaday was highly recommended to me. I have heard that you get an amazing amount of tools for the low subscription price. I was also quite impressed by Dennis Becker, he seems like someone I can trust. The only thing is, I heard that this concentrates heavily on selling via ebay which does not appeal to me at this moment in time. But again, another one to think about for the future.
A friend of mine referred me to Lee’s new membership site recently. Actually, I had already seen Lee’s legendary post on Warriors but had since forgotten about it. Seeing this post again rekindled my desire to earn my way out of my present day job. I was also impressed because his background and focus are strongly on product creation and then leveraging via JVs. This is a concept that appeals to me greatly and is where I am shifting my focus at the moment. Away from the likes of Adsense and content sites and into products and list building. Lee is also a Mancunian lad and this is also appealing as I was born there and lived there for 15 years. I have seen only a few other Northerners in the internet marketing world, I think Chris McNeeney who wrote Day Job Killer is one of them as well.
Although I have only just joined it, I can say that Lee’s site is money well spent. Already I can see a wealth of training videos and tools that Lee has procured for us. Best of all though, is a motivated community – there seems to be a real buzz about the forums and I will definitely be participating there and hopefully helping others too.
So there you have it, my breakdown of the search for a good membership site. I truly believe that choosing a membership site that fits your current needs can serve you well. It can give you:
- valuable tools that are exactly what you need for a fraction of the price.
- valuable knowledge from mentors and community members.
- the added impetus that you need to accelerate your efforts from your fellow community.

Great blog btw!

Thanks for the nice comment. I just checked your blog out too and I can see that we are similar age (I’m 29) – yes, I feel old compared to some of these rich newbies! Got to just ignore them and get on with making my own riches

Thanks for your comments.
That’s interesting – are you still a member of WA and do they provide much in the way of useful tools.
I must admit, I like it when a membership site has a lot of good tools that I can use such as free reports I can give away, graphics, PLR content etc.
